Introduction

Volunteering describes what people decide to do in their spare time, without pay, that benefits other people or contributes to the services or amenities within the community.
It is not just what you put in that counts. If you volunteer you will have the chance to meet new people, learn new skills, develop new interests and be part of a community. All you need is a little time and energy. In return your reward will be a sense of personal achievement and satisfaction.
Volunteers are involved in a wide range of activities and projects from befriending to conservation work, volunteers contribute a huge amount to the daily lives of other people.
Everyone can be a volunteer. Your age background, previous experience doesn’t matter - there is an opportunity to suit you.
